There are two methods: Regular method and Simplified
Regular Method
This method requires a little math but after the first time the calculations shouldn’t change much year over year.
Find the total area of your home
Find the area of your home office (portion of your home used for business)
Divide area of your home office/area of your home to determine the percentage of your home used for business purposes
Multiply the percentage by each expense to find the deductible portion of the expense
If there are expenses associated only with the home office those expenses would be deductible at 100% such as office security and paint for the office.
